At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.

This week, we sat down with Jonathan Rogers, who teaches ninth and tenth-grade Western Civilization at Founders Classical Academy – Lewisville.

Tell Us About Yourself

I was born and raised in Dallas and graduated from the University of Dallas. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2013 and teach ninth and tenth-grade Western Civilization at Founders Classical Academy – Lewisville.

What inspired you to become an educator?

I have always enjoyed history and learning about “why the world is the way it is.” As an educator, I get to explore that question every year, each time a little bit deeper and from a slightly different angle.

What are some things that your students have taught you?

My students have reminded me of the power of working together. Over the years, I have watched them plan various school events and been impressed with their teamwork and creativity. Because of them, I get reminded that we can accomplish more when we work and support each other.

What are you most proud of about your time with Founders Classical Academy – Lewisville?

I am most proud of getting to teach the Western Civilization II course for over a decade. My time in the classroom has allowed me to show the world to my students from different perspectives, and it has been incredibly rewarding to see them develop into virtuous individuals.

What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?

I feel honored to be part of a rapidly growing movement renewing classical education. Additionally, I am extremely grateful to work alongside such inspiring educators and to have such great leadership.
