At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.
This week, we sat down with Ana Salinas, who teaches Science and Biology at Premier High School – Palmview.
Tell Us About Yourself
I was born and raised in Mission, Texas, and studied Biology at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Since joining ResponsiveEd in 2011, I have participated in the Teacher Induction Program at my campus and was a 2023 recipient of the TEA Teacher Incentive Allotment.
What inspired you to become an educator?
As someone from a family of immigrants, education has always played a significant role in my life. My father frequently reminded me of the value of a good education and how it could prepare me for a successful future. I credit him with instilling a love for learning and encouraging me to pursue teaching full-time.
What are some things that your students have taught you?
My students have taught me the importance of perseverance and believing in myself. They inspire me to be the best teacher and person I can be.
What are you most proud of about your time with Premier High School – Palmview?
I am most proud of my students who have graduated early. There is no better feeling than watching your students achieve their academic and personal goals and witnessing them making a difference in the world.
What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?
My favorite thing about working at ResponsiveEd is the strong sense of community. Everyone, from fellow teachers to leadership, is committed to creating a safe and positive learning environment.
