Plainview Classical Academy Student Dina Argimberde

At ResponsiveEd, the overwhelming success of our students is what sets us apart. Join us in congratulating Plainview Classical Academy student Dina Argimberde, who was recently shortlisted for the Orwell Youth Prize 2026, a prestigious international writing competition hosted by the Orwell Foundation in the United Kingdom.

This year’s competition challenged young writers to respond to a single theme: Truth. Dina’s work stood out among approximately 1,300 submissions from students around the world. Of those entries, only 47 advanced to the shortlist stage, placing Dina among a select group of young writers recognized for their writing excellence.

The opportunity was introduced by campus literature teacher Sage Gregory while students were studying George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four. Inspired by the novel’s themes and the competition’s prompt, students crafted original fictional pieces exploring the meaning and importance of truth.

Dina attended Plainview Classical Academy during the 2025-26 school year through the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) Abroad Program. Originally from Kazakhstan, she quickly became an active member of the school community, participating in cross-country, volunteering at school events, earning membership in the National Honor Society, and receiving multiple nominations for the Virtuous Student Award.

As a shortlisted finalist, Dina now advances to the final round of judging. The 15 winners and runners-up of the Orwell Youth Prize 2026 will be announced during the Orwell Prize ceremony at University College London on June 25. In addition, winning entries will be featured in The Observer, one of the United Kingdom’s most widely read newspapers.

“Throughout her time at the campus, Dina displayed the kind of self-governance and drive for excellence that makes success inevitable,” said teacher Sage Gregory. “It has been an honor to watch her efforts receive recognition beyond my classroom walls.”

Congratulations, Dina, on this outstanding achievement!
