A unique aspect of Premier High School is our Career and Technical Education (CTE) options. Through these options, students receive job training, have opportunities to participate in paid or unpaid internships, receive industry-recognized certifications, and begin meaningful careers after high school. In honor of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, we talked to our Premier High School – Canyon, about its CTE offering in drone piloting.

In the campus Drone program, students work toward earning a commercial drone pilot license and learn how to utilize this license for a meaningful career. Upon completion, program participants are issued their drone pilot license by the Federal Aviation Administration, allowing them to earn money operating an unmanned aerial system (drone).

“The drone program has helped me realize that a job does not have to be sitting in an office and doing paperwork all day. The program is very interactive, which makes learning about the parts of a drone fun,” said student Lily Henson. “Flying drones is something I really enjoy, and this program has taught me how to potentially make a living by doing something I love.”

Why Career and Technical Education (CTE)? Students can begin training for a career while earning their diploma at Premier High School. CTE gives students the skills and training to further their education and pursue meaningful careers in high-demand professions.
