At Premier High School – DeSoto and TexasWorks – DeSoto, students are earning more than just a high school diploma; they’re graduating with real-world skills and certifications that open doors to in-demand careers.

Serving grades 9-12, Premier High School – DeSoto offers a flexible schedule and mastery-based curriculum that blends personalized academic instruction with career readiness training and personal development.

Located on the same campus, TexasWorks – DeSoto extends these opportunities to adult learners. The program serves individuals ages 18 to 50 who want to earn their high school diploma and gain career certifications, entirely tuition-free. With the same flexible, mastery-based approach, TexasWorks helps adults balance education with work, family, and other responsibilities, offering a supportive alternative to the traditional high school experience.

Whether students are looking to catch up, get ahead, or explore a future career, Premier High School and TexasWorks provide the support and structure students need to succeed.

One of the campus’s standout programs is its Career and Technical Education (CTE) offering in Phlebotomy, which allows students to pursue national certification and careers in the medical field. This past school year, 10 Premier High School students graduated from the phlebotomy program, equipped with hands-on experience in drawing blood, lab safety procedures, and patient care practices.

The success of the phlebotomy program has paved the way for new opportunities. In response to the program’s success, the campus will now offer a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) program to students starting in the 2025-26 school year.

“At Premier High School and TexasWorks, our goal is to make sure every student leaves our campus ready to succeed, whether that means college, career, or both,” said Campus Director Georgetta Reed. “The phlebotomy program has shown how impactful hands-on career training can be, and we are excited to expand those opportunities with the launch of the Certified Medical Assistant program.”

The new addition will prepare students to become future health professionals who support physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other medical providers in different specialties. Throughout the program, students will learn to obtain and record health histories and vital signs, test vision, draw blood, and perform basic laboratory procedures.

Both the phlebotomy and CMA programs will provide students with opportunities to participate in paid or unpaid internships, receive industry-recognized certifications, and begin meaningful careers after high school.

The campus located at 929 West Belt Line Road in DeSoto invites both Premier families,  TexasWorks students, and the community to attend its upcoming Open House on August 6 at 5 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the facility, meet the faculty, and learn more about the school’s mission and educational offerings.
