Premier High School – Little Rock Teacher Rebecca Gracie

At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.

This week, we sat down with Premier High School – Little Rock Special Education Teacher Rebecca Gracie.

Tell Us About Yourself

I was born and raised in White Hall, Arkansas, and graduated from Ouachita Baptist University before receiving my master’s in teaching from the University of Arkansas at Monticello. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2015 and serve as a special education teacher at Premier High School – Little Rock.

What inspired you to become an educator?

While attending college at OBU, I began a tutoring job as part of my work-study program. During my time in that position, I discovered a passion for helping others learn. I had several incredible teachers throughout my school experience, and they gave me the knowledge, encouragement, and support to make it where I am. I aspire to be like them every day in the classroom.

What are some things that your students have taught you?

My students have taught me what it means to be patient. We all walk different paths and can all help each other along the way. They have also shown me what determination, perseverance, and growth look like. It is truly a privilege to share a classroom with each of them.

What are you most proud of about your time with Premier High School – Little Rock?

I am most proud of the students I have helped earn their high school diplomas. The most joyous time of the year for me is graduation. It is worth any potentially more challenging moment throughout the year when you witness their faces beam with pride as they walk across the stage. I am also proud of the teacher I have become working with ResponsiveEd, and I hope to continue to grow and learn as a professional.

What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?

I like working with a small student population. This environment allows me to get to know each student and their families well, allowing me to meet each student where they are to get them where they need to be.

I truly believe in our work here and love providing hope for students, their families, and our community.
