iSchool High – The Woodlands Teacher Christine Root

At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.

This week, we sat down with Christine Root, who teaches algebra at iSchool High – The Woodlands.

Tell Us About Yourself

I was born and raised in Spring, Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Business before returning to pursue teaching. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2013 and teach ninth-grade Algebra at iSchool High – The Woodlands.

What inspired you to become an educator?

My family always preached the importance of doing something you love. Because of their example and a desire to use my driving nature to do good for others, I can truly say I love what I do!

What are some things that your students have taught you?

My students have taught me too many valuable lessons to count. As a life-long learner, I always welcome and encourage the opportunity to learn something new, especially from my students.

What are you most proud of about your time with iSchool High – The Woodlands?

I am most proud of all the students I have helped understand difficult concepts in algebra and pass their STAAR test. Additionally, I am proud to have helped them learn different life skills throughout the school year.

What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?

I love the flexibility that my job provides. It allows me to be fully present and support my students in the classroom and be there for my family at the end of the day.
