A unique aspect of Premier High School is our Career and Technical Education (CTE) options. Through these options, students receive job training, have opportunities to participate in paid or unpaid internships, receive industry-recognized certifications, and begin meaningful careers after high school. As you may recall, we previously featured our Premier High School – Midland, for its CTE offering in drone piloting.

Since then, our Midland drone program students participated in the 2024 Kelly Heritage Foundation Regional Drone Competition. Students showcased their skills and training at the competition, earning an impressive total of six awards, including three first-place trophies.

  • First Place Overall Performance
  • First Place Drone Genius (Knowledge-Based)
  • First Place VLS Pilot Performance
  • The AHA Education Best Mat Piloting
  • Kelly Heritage Foundation Best Team Overall
  • Drone Genius Motess

“Going to the drone competition was such a fun and unique opportunity for our students,” said campus CTE teacher and Drone Coach Stephanie Young. “I am so proud of their hard work before and during the competition. It was an incredible experience, and we cannot wait for next year’s competition.”

In addition to the opportunity to participate in competitions, students who complete the campus drone program earn their commercial drone pilot license to begin a meaningful career with their new skillset upon high school graduation. Drone pilot licenses are issued by the Federal Aviation Administration, allowing those students to earn money operating an unmanned aerial system (drone).

ResponsiveEd joins Premier High School – Midland in expressing our immense pride and celebration for these talented students as they set the pace for a bright future. Congratulations!

Why Career and Technical Education (CTE)? Students can begin training for a career while earning their diploma. CTE gives students the skills and training to further their education and pursue meaningful careers in high-demand professions.
