Meet our College, Career, and Military Readiness Counselor for West Texas, John Gatica! John joined the ResponsiveEd family in 2022 and is vital in providing hope for students across West Texas. Born and raised in the Texas panhandle, John holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University and is an Alum of the Harvard University School of Leadership program and Oxford Round Table.
Throughout his nearly 30-year career, John has served in many roles within the Texas public schools system, including the principal of an alternative high school. He has received several recognitions, like the Coca-Cola Organization’s National Educator of Distinction, Region 17 Principal of the Year, and HEB’s Regional Principal of the Year. Additionally, John was named an outstanding alumnus by the Texas Tech Upward Bound program and the LEARN Educational Talent Search program.
As a College, Career, and Military Readiness Counselor, John works alongside ResponisveEd’s team of experienced counselors who support and assist high school seniors and alumni to and through their post-secondary journey. This position allows John to ensure student success in West Texas by taking on multiple supportive roles in several areas, such as testing, college preparation, and data tracking.
