A unique aspect of Premier High School is our Career and Technical Education (CTE) options. Through these options, students receive job training, have opportunities to participate in paid or unpaid internships, receive industry-recognized certifications, and begin meaningful careers after high school. In honor of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, we talked to our Premier High School – Laredo, Premier High School – Odessa, and Premier High School – Waco about their CTE offerings in the medical field.

The campus Medical Assistant programs prepare students to become future health professionals who will support physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other medical providers in different specialties. Throughout the program, students learn to obtain and record health histories and vital signs and, in some cases, may test vision, draw blood, and perform basic laboratory procedures. Upon completion, program participants can receive an industry-recognized certification as medical assistants.

โ€œThe Medical Assistant program is important to me because it has helped me prepare and put my medical knowledge into practice,โ€ said Premier High School – Laredo student Yamileth Puente. โ€œThanks to this program that my campus offers, I can take advantage of doing this course in a year and graduate with a high school diploma and certificate.โ€

Why Career and Technical Education (CTE)? Students can begin training for a career while earning their diploma at Premier High School. CTE gives students the skills and training to further their education and pursue meaningful careers in high-demand professions.
