A unique aspect of Premier High School is our Career and Technical Education (CTE) options. Through these options, students receive job training, have opportunities to participate in paid or unpaid internships, receive industry-recognized certifications, and begin meaningful careers after high school. In honor of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, we talked to our Premier High School – Arlington, Pflugerville, and Austin (Wells Branch) about their CTE offering in electrical technology.
Through its partnership with TRIO Electric, the campus electrical technology program prepares students for a successful career in construction and electrical technology. Students in the program learn how to become safe and productive electricians through video-based lessons, performance verification, and Virtual Reality (VR) simulations. By completing the Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program (EPP), students can graduate with a high school diploma and an industry-recognized certification.
“Offering our students career training and certifications prepares them for a successful life after high school,” said lead Premier High School – Arlington CTE Teacher Adriana Sanchez-Coleman. “Knowing our students have the opportunity to prepare for high-demand jobs in the workforce ensures their success.”
“I am thankful for this program and TRIO because it has helped me prepare for a career after high school,” said second-year Premier High School electrical technology student Marquette Jones.
Why Career and Technical Education (CTE)? Students can begin training for a career while earning their diploma. CTE gives students the skills and training to further their education and pursue meaningful careers in high-demand professions.
