At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.
This week, we sat down with Andie Brownlow, who teaches fourth grade at Founders Classical Academy – Leander.
Tell Us About Yourself
I was born and raised in the Carolinas and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Science. I joined ResponsiveEd in July of 2021 and teach fourth-grade English, Language Arts, Orthography, History, and Math at Founders Classical Academy – Leander.
What inspired you to become an educator?
I decided to become an educator when I had to briefly homeschool my son during an extended move out of state. That was when I realized my love for teaching and helping students reach their full potential, and I wanted to share that passion with others.
What are some things that your students have taught you?
My students have taught me to never lose a sense of wonder. Their curiosity and eagerness to learn have inspired me to be the best teacher I can be and encouraged me to look at things from a different point of view. Every day, I get the opportunity to see things through their eyes, and it is such a rewarding experience!
What are you most proud of about your time with Founders Classical Academy – Leander?
I am very proud of my students and all that they have accomplished! It is incredibly humbling to be a part of a school culture that promotes high moral standards and all good things because it sets us all up to be life-long learners. It’s so fulfilling to see a child succeed in and out of the classroom and know you helped them get there.
What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?
I appreciate the approach ResponsiveEd takes to train teachers. The leadership is incredibly supportive and consistently looks for ways to help teachers grow and succeed in the classroom. I am surrounded by administrators and educators steeped in the classical tradition, and their passion for education and willingness to help students succeed is evident. I feel truly blessed to be able to not only work alongside them but learn from them every day.
