Meet our Executive Director of Safety and Security, Steve Chaney! Steve has been a member of the ResponsiveEd family since 2018 and brings a wealth of experience to the Safety and Security Department. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Steve graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor’s and Master of Science in Management and Leadership.
Before joining ResponsiveEd, Steve served in the United States Air Force and has held several public safety roles, including the Chief of Operations for the Maryland State Police, the Assistant Chief of Police for the Arlington Police Department, and the Executive Director of Safety and Security for Gateway Church. Steve was also appointed by the Governor of Maryland to serve as the Superintendent of the Maryland Natural Resources Police.
As Executive Director of Safety and Security, Steve oversees the safety and security-related matters on our campuses across the district. His position allows him to improve campus infrastructures, train campus leadership, and handle security issues as they arise. Furthermore, Steve is responsible for supporting district emergency operations plans and coordinating with organizations, such as the Texas School Safety Center, on all legislative security issues, ensuring our organization complies with state mandates.
