In honor of National School Counseling Week, we caught up with our Director of Behavioral and Mental Health, Jessica Hammock! Jessica became a member of the ResponsiveEd family in 2012 and has since held positions at both the campus and district levels. After joining the organization as a fifth-grade teacher, she worked for the Math and Science Curriculum Department, training teachers while simultaneously pursuing her Master’s degree in School Counseling.

After finishing her Master’s program, she became the Dean of Students at our Coppell Classical Academy while piloting the opportunity to serve as a Counseling Support for ResponsiveEd. In her role as Dean of Students, Jessica felt compelled to offer counseling support at the district level, leading her to take on her current title as Director of Behavioral and Mental Health.ย

As Director of Behavioral and Mental Health, Jessica works with staff and administrators to train them on current mental health information and protocols for ResponsiveEd. Her position also allows her to provide individual counseling, serve as a member of the Behavioral Threat Assessment Team at each campus, and lead a team of three counselors who respond to mental health crises across our district.

Jessica brings a wealth of experience to the department. Aside from her Masterโ€™s degree, she is a Certified School Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Clinical Certified Trauma Specialist.

Jessica is passionate about mental wellness and providing staff and students with the tools and resources they need to relieve stress and have a successful academic experience.ย

Thank you for all that you do, Jessica!
