Like many of his peers, Founders Classical Academy – Lewisville student Rohan Patel aspired to attend college after graduation. However, it wasn’t until the end of his sophomore year that he made a life-changing decision to join the military, specifically the United States Marine Corps (USMC). With a desire to become a commissioned officer in the Marine Corps, Rohan began exploring various options that would allow him to fulfill his dream of attending college while pursuing a military career.
With the help and guidance of his academic advisor and counselor, Briana Jemison, he discovered The Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University in College Station. From there, he decided to delve deeper into the unique program.
Unlike military academies such as West Point or The Naval Academy, The Corps of Cadets offers students a college experience combined with the required training to become a commissioned officer in the military. While the Corps places great emphasis on academics, the program aims to train future leaders for the military, regardless of whether cadets wish to seek commission in the future.
Rohan’s ambition extends beyond simply obtaining a degree and finding a well-paying job after graduation. “I am excited to start this new chapter,” said Patel. “I look forward to challenging myself through this training and honoring my country, and I hope to inspire others to do the same.”
Rohan’s decision to join The Corps of Cadets and his commitment to personal growth and leadership serve as an inspiration to his peers and as a testament to the limitless possibilities that Founders Classical Academies provide.
