Bastrop, TX — Founders Classical Academy – Bastrop, a tuition-free ResponsiveEd public charter school serving grades K-11, is excited to announce the opening of its new campus building at 415 Shiloh Road. The new facility will provide expanded learning spaces, fostering an environment where students can fully immerse themselves in the rigorous and unique classical education that Founders Classical Academy is known for.

The new building is designed to enhance students’ learning environment, adding classrooms, dedicated spaces for extracurricular activities, and expansive outdoor areas for sports and learning. These resources support the campus mission to cultivate students’ minds and character through a curriculum steeped in the liberal arts and classical virtues.

Headmaster Stephanie Thomas, who previously led the school across two separate church sites, emphasized the significance of the brand-new campus in elevating the educational experience.

“Our new campus building represents our commitment to providing an exceptional education that prepares students not only for academic success but for life,” Thomas said. “With these new facilities, we can offer more opportunities for our students to engage deeply with classical texts, develop critical thinking skills, and pursue excellence in all their endeavors.”

In 2018, a group of parents reached out to ResponsiveEd about offering the Founders program in their area. Superintendent Mike Terry agreed that there was an opportunity to offer a new school option to families in fast-growing Bastrop County. He was convinced that Founders, which usually operates K-12 schools with 700-1,000 students, could run smaller and leaner campuses in areas where school choice had not previously been available. Serving the Bastrop community is an important priority for the Founders team.

“This new building is a significant milestone for our school community. We want to find ways to give parents a meaningful school choice wherever they live, no matter how big or small,” Terry said. “From the early days of BastropCan, families in this area asked us for a school, and we have found a way to deliver it for them in an efficient and cost-effective way. I am pleased with the way our beautiful new campus turned out.”

The campus building can currently accommodate 300-400 students, but with the additional space, there is room to expand as more people move into the region.

“Now that we are on our own property, we will be able to grow our program the way we intended. We hope the families of Bastrop will see that value and commitment and enroll their children in our school,” Terry added.

Founders Classical Academy – Bastrop invites families and the community to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new campus building on October 23 at 10 a.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the facility, meet the faculty, and learn more about the school’s mission and educational offerings.
