iSchool Virtual Academy Senior Sofia Cuencar

We are excited to welcome back iSchool Virtual Academy (iSVA) Communication & Relationships Manager Genavieve Meyer as a special guest contributor for this story. Genavieve plays an instrumental role in highlighting the connections and overwhelming success of the iSVA community. Here, she helps us share the story of Sofia Cuencar, a standout student with big dreams.

Senior Sofia Cuencar began her journey with iSchool Virtual Academy in 2023 as a freshman, driven by the goal of graduating ahead of schedule. Enrolling with iSVA allowed her the flexibility to progress at her own pace, allowing her to tailor a schedule that fit her needs. Online education has also provided Sofia with more free time for activities such as work, physical fitness, and spending time with her family.

Sofia is on track to graduate early this January at only sixteen years old. Sofia’s ambition was clear from a young age. Her mother shares that Sofia “knew from around age 12 that she wanted to apply for a Service Academy. She took the initiative and enrolled in the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, where she is currently ranked as Petty Officer First Class and is the Lead Petty Officer at their monthly drills.”

Sofia is enjoying her final months as a high school student, working part-time and participating in hobbies she loves, such as “working out and hanging out with my friends.” After graduation, Sofia has her sights set on the Naval Academy, where she hopes to pursue a career as an anesthesiologist in the Navy.

“We are so proud of her,” Mrs. Cuencar proudly shared. “We are excited to see where this journey takes her!”

We are thrilled for Sofia and can’t wait to hear how her story unfolds!
