Meet our College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) Counselor for Southeast Texas, Michael Westbrooks! Michael joined the ResponsiveEd family in 2022 with over a decade of experience as a guidance counselor.
Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, Michael received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Colby College in Maine. After moving to Spain to pursue a professional career in basketball, he returned to Ireland to pursue his Master’s in Guidance & Counseling. It was during this time that Michael discovered his true calling as a high school guidance counselor. Before joining ResponsiveEd, Michael spent ten years as a guidance counselor at an all-Irish-speaking high school in Ireland and Houston Heights High School, a charter school in Houston, Texas.
As a regional counselor, Michael guides and supports students in Southeast Texas through their unique journeys toward college, the workforce, and beyond. His experience as a guidance counselor makes Michael a valuable member of the College, Career, and Military Readiness team. This position allows Michael to assist students with college applications, financial aid, scholarships, and dual credit enrollment. His dedication extends beyond current students, as he supports our Alumni, ensuring their smooth transition into higher education or the workforce.
