A unique aspect of our Premier High School campuses is the Career and Technical Education (CTE) options. Through these options, students receive job training, have opportunities to participate in paid or unpaid internships, receive industry-recognized certifications, and begin meaningful careers after high school. In honor of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, we talked to our Premier High School – San Juan, about its CTE offering in the medical field.
In the campus Patient Care Technician program, students receive high-quality, hands-on training in nursing, phlebotomy, and EKG. Throughout the course, students are prepared with the valuable knowledge and necessary skills to provide quality medical care and become vital healthcare team members. Upon completion, students earn an industry-based certification as a Certified Patient Care Technician and the ability to begin a meaningful career after graduation.
“Programs such as this provide our students with the academic and technical skills needed to enter the workforce upon graduation,” said the campus CTE Teacher Iris Magallan. “It helps them realize that they are a part of something bigger, that they will leave a mark on the world and make a difference.”
