The Application Process

The application for the ResponsiveEd 180 EPP consists of two parts. Part I involves providing information about yourself, your educational and professional experiences, and your motivation to become a Texas-certified teacher. This section also includes a writing sample that will be evaluated as a part of the admission process. Applicants who meet the state and program eligibility Part I requirements will be invited to advance to Part II of the application process.

Part II of the application requires submission of unofficial and official transcripts, providing three professional references, uploading a current resume, undergoing an initial background check, and a phone screening interview. After verifying that you meet all program and state eligibility and admission requirements, our 180 EPP Administrators will personally connect with you to offer you a spot in our inaugural cohort and launch your certification journey.

What to Include in the Writing Sample

Have you submitted your application yet? Are you feeling uncertain about the writing sample? Don’t worry! Here are some tips to help you effectively express who you are in your application writing sample.

Your application to the ResponsiveEd 180 EPP should illustrate your passion for learning and highlight why you want to become a certified teacher. Your composition, personality, and experiences should demonstrate your aspirations to become certified and your English language writing proficiency. Be sure to use proper grammar and language mechanics throughout. When drafting your responses to the three prompts, a recommended word count of approximately 500 – 1000 is strongly encouraged. Lastly, take the time to review your writing and make any necessary revisions before submitting your application.
