At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.

This week, we sat down with Lina Guzman-Lopez, who teaches kindergarten and first grade at our Foundation School for Autism – San Antonio.

Tell Us About Yourself

I was born and raised in San Antonio, and I graduated with my Bachelor’s from UTSA. I recently received a Graduate Certificate from the Florida Institute of Technology in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and I am working toward national certification in ABA. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2012 and teach Kindergarten and First Grade at Foundation School for Autism – San Antonio.

What inspired you to become an educator?

Before coming to ResponsiveEd, I spent several years working at a daycare center in San Antonio and absolutely loved it. During my time there, I discovered my passion for working with children and made the decision to pursue teaching as a career.

What are some things that your students have taught you?

My students have taught me the importance of patience and the value of becoming a lifelong learner. Through them, I have been able to view things from a new perspective and grow as a teacher.

What are you most proud of about your time with Foundation School for Autism – San Antonio?

I am most proud of how much I have grown personally and as a teacher throughout my time at the campus.

What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?

What I like most about ResponsiveEd is the work environment. Our campus is like a family, from the teachers to our leadership, who support us daily. It is so inspiring to be able to work with a group of educators who are truly passionate about helping all students succeed.
