At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.
This week, we sat down with Tanja Swartz, who teaches U.S. History at Founders Classical Academy – Leander.

Tell Us About Yourself
Growing up in a military family, I have had the opportunity to live in many places before eventually finishing high school in Texas. I went on to earn a B.S. in Geology from Texas A&M University and later pursued a Master’s in Theology from the Augustine Institute. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2015 and teach U.S. History at Founders Classical Academy – Leander.
What inspired you to become an educator?
I’ve always had a deep love for learning and a passion for working with young people. Being an educator has given me the chance to share all of the things I have learned throughout my time as a teacher and to inspire curiosity and growth in others.
What are some things that your students have taught you?
My students have taught me humility and patience. Their questions challenge me to think more deeply, their struggles remind me to lead with compassion, and their curiosity pushes me to keep growing myself.
What are you most proud of about your time with Founders Classical Academy – Leander?
I’m most proud of stepping back into the classroom after more than two decades. Accepting this role meant re-learning the subject matter and adapting to the needs of a new generation of students. It’s been both a rewarding and challenging experience, and I’m truly grateful for the chance to make a meaningful impact.
