Tell Us About Yourself

I was born and raised in Waco, Texas, and am certified to teach several subjects. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2019 and teach Algebra I and Principles of Health at Premier High School – Waco.

What inspired you to become an educator?

While in law school, I took a position as a substitute teacher at a local high school. It was during that time that multiple students expressed to me how much they had learned during our short time together and asked me to stay longer. This was the first of several similar experiences that semester and what inspired me to change my path and pursue teaching.

What are some things that your students have taught you?

My students have shown me the value of collaboration,  as sometimes a lesson or explanation clicks better when delivered by another person or resource—whether it’s a peer, another teacher, a parent, or even an online source. It’s crucial for teachers to recognize this so they can utilize all available resources to help students succeed.

What are you most proud of about your time with Premier High School – Waco?

I take pride in the graduations I’ve helped students achieve. While I strive to support students in understanding, learning, and applying their knowledge, their successes are really a testament to their own hard work and the dedication of the entire teaching team at our campus.

What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?

My favorite thing about my campus is the sense of community. We are a team unified by our passion for helping students achieve their goals. I am grateful to have such supportive leadership and to work alongside people who work together and adapt as needed to help each of our students succeed.
