Tell Us About Yourself
I am originally from a small town in East Texas and proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years. After completing my service, I earned an associate degree from Angelina College and a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2019 and currently teach kindergarten at Quest Collegiate Academy – Shenandoah.
What inspired you to become an educator?
As a child, I struggled with dyslexia and was placed in summer school in the fourth grade. During that time, I had a teacher who not only taught me how to read but also helped me build confidence rather than feel ashamed of my challenges.
What are some things that your students have taught you?
My students have taught me the beauty of patience, the importance of curiosity, and how to find joy in the little moments.
What are you most proud of about your time with Quest Collegiate Academy – Shenandoah?
I am most proud of being part of a strong, collaborative team that fosters a positive environment where everyone feels supported, valued, and empowered. Working with such a team is both encouraging and motivating, making the work more enjoyable and truly meaningful.
What do you like most about being an educator at your campus?
Teaching kindergarten can be challenging, but the rewards far outweigh the struggles. The meaningful connections I have built with my students have made this career extremely fulfilling!
