At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.
This week, we sat down with Rita Holloway, who teaches second grade at Amarillo Collegiate Academy.
Tell Us About Yourself
I was born and raised in a small town in the Texas Panhandle and graduated from West Texas A&M University with a degree in education. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2008 and teach second grade at Amarillo Collegiate Academy.
What inspired you to become an educator?
At an early age, my parents instilled a love for learning and reading in me. After spending my first year of college as an accounting major, I realized that my true passion was education, and I wanted to join a career that would allow me to share my love for learning with others.
What are some things that your students have taught you?
My students have taught me to find joy in everyday life! They have taught me that being myself is the best person I can be and that you shouldn’t take yourself too seriously.
What are you most proud of about your time with Amarillo Collegiate Academy?
I am most proud of my team and the way that we work to support each other. I feel honored to be able to work alongside people who strive to maintain a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment for all students.
What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?
I appreciate the alternative educational options that ResponsiveEd provides to our communities. The best part of working for ResponsiveEd is the people. Every day, they come to work ready to cheer each other on and to provide hope for all students.
