This week, we sat down with Jasmine Battee, who teaches History at Ignite Community School – Garland.
Tell Us About Yourself
I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, and graduated from Dillard University with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a Master’s in teaching. I received a second Master’s in Instructional Leadership and have completed the ResponsiveEd Inspiring Leaders program. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2018 and I teach seventh and eighth-grade American and Texas History at Ignite Community School – Garland.
What inspired you to become an educator?
I have always been passionate about learning and sharing knowledge with others. Knowing that I am making a positive impact and can help shape the lives of my students is what inspires me every day.ย
What are some things that your students have taught you?
One of the most important lessons they have taught me is humility and being a good listener. Because of them, I continue to improve as a teacher and help them succeed in and out of the classroom.ย
What are you most proud of about your time with Ignite Community School – Garland?
I am proud to be part of an organization that has such a transformative impact on the lives of educators and students. I love working with a team who shares their passion and skills to create a positive and nurturing learning environment.
What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?
I love working for ResponsiveEd because of its endless career growth and advancement opportunities. The campus leadership’s support allows me to contribute to the goals and success of every student.ย
