Tell Us About Yourself
I am from Lewisville, Texas, and attended Founders Classical Academy – Lewisville, another ResponsiveEd school, from grades 8-12. I graduated from the University of Dallas with a degree in psychology and returned to ResponsiveEd in 2023, where I teach Kindergarten at Founders Classical Academy – Fort Worth.
What inspired you to become an educator?
I was inspired to become a teacher because of my brother, who is autistic. Before becoming a teacher, I was a registered behavior technician and later served as a paraprofessional working with children with various learning disabilities. One student, in particular, changed my perspective on education—a sixteen-year-old with a second-grade reading level.
Before working with her, I was unaware of the extent of the literacy challenges facing so many students across Texas. I am passionate about being part of the solution, helping to strengthen literacy, and ensuring every student gets the education they deserve.
What are some things that your students have taught you?
My students have taught me to be kinder to myself. Test anxiety is something quite a few students struggle with. Before every assessment, I always reassure them that as long as they try their best, their test results do not define their worth.
By supporting my students, showing them patience, and reminding them that mistakes do not define them, I’ve realized we often need to be more gracious to ourselves.
What are you most proud of about your time with Founders Classical Academy – Fort Worth?
I am most proud of being able to teach such young students how to read in a short time.
What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?
I am grateful to teach at Founders Classical Academy, the same school that profoundly impacted me as a student. Classical education shaped me in numerous ways, and it is an honor to pass that knowledge and experience on to my students.
