ResponsiveEd paraprofessionals receive Texas COVID Learning Acceleration Supports (TCLAS) Grant funds

ResponsiveEd is excited to announce that 11 paraprofessionals and instructional aides across our districts have been approved to receive funds from the Texas COVID Learning Acceleration Supports (TCLAS) Decision 4A Grant. Grant recipients may earn up to $7,500 to cover tuition and fees associated with the teacher certification process and up to $18,000 to cover costs associated with obtaining a bachelor’s degree and certification. All applicants were required to submit applications to a ResponsiveEd panel. Applications included essays, letters of reference, and college transcripts.

Awardees have committed to complete their programs by the end of the 2023-24 school year and teach at a ResponsiveEd school for at least three years. Many TCLAS grant recipients, like Premier High School – Laredo teacher aide Ana Reyes, received funds that will allow her to complete her undergraduate and teaching certificate coursework. Reyes plans to put her grant dollars towards attending Texas A&M Commerce, a ResponsiveEd partner for continuing education.

“I will use the funds to complete my degree in Bilingual Early Childhood Education and receive my teaching certification” said Reyes. “I am so excited and grateful to get this opportunity to finish my degree so I can continue to inspire more students for years to come!”
