ResponsiveEd is thrilled to share that Premier High School – El Paso (Mesa) students Ruben Arriola and Avery Awalt have been awarded The Young Writers 2025 award and selected for publication for their original writing pieces. This prestigious recognition highlights their creativity, dedication, and talent in storytelling.

For eleventh-grade student Avery Awalt, writing is a newfound passion. “Over the last year, I have really developed a love for writing, specifically poetry and fiction,” Avery shared. “I decided to enter the Young Writers contest because my teachers and classmates have inspired and encouraged me to be more creative and step out of my comfort zone.” 

Campus Director Ernesto Morales expressed his pride in the students’ achievements, stating, “At Premier High School – El Paso (Mesa), we encourage students to explore their talents and passions,” said Morales. “Ruben and Avery’s success in the Young Writers contest is a testament to their hard work and creativity. We are incredibly proud of them and excited to see where their writing takes them next.”

Their selection for publication serves as an inspiration for their peers and a reminder that stepping outside of one’s comfort zone can lead to incredible accomplishments. Congratulations to Ruben and Avery on this outstanding achievement!
