At ResponsiveEd, the overwhelming success of our students and Alumni is what sets us apart. Join us in congratulating Premier High School – Austin (Wells Branch) student Josh Chandra, who recently received the Congressional Award Gold Medal. Josh is one of approximately 700 Congressional Gold Medalists nationwide.
To receive this honor, participants must complete at least 400 hours of voluntary public service, 200 hours of personal development, which can include developing social and life skills as well as interests, 200 hours of physical fitness, and spend at least five days and four nights exploring a new environment or culture. Josh has consistently worked to achieve this award for over two years, the time frame necessary to earn this prestigious award.
In addition to earning this prestigious award, Josh is one of 100 applicants selected from over 2,000 applications to participate in the NASA Student Enhancement in Earth and Space (SEES) summer internship. Sponsored by NASA and the University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Space Research, the program offers high school students the opportunity to work alongside scientists and engineers on cutting-edge research topics such as air quality, landforms, and astronomy.
During the SEES internship, students work remotely with experts in the field, conduct hands-on activities and field investigations, and collaborate with NASA scientists and engineers on various missions. In July, Josh will join his peers for the NASA SEES Virtual Symposium to present his findings to NASA scientists, engineers, the public, and fellow interns.
“Like many of our students, Josh decided to enroll at Premier after seeking an educational option that would challenge him and allow him to work at a faster pace,” said Campus Director Veronica Phillips. “He is an incredibly driven student, and is so deserving of both this award and internship.”
Congratulations once again, Josh, on this outstanding achievement!
