Foundation School for Autism Campus Director Rachel Schneider

At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.

This week, we sat down with Rachel Schneider, Campus Director at Foundation School for Autism – Plano.

Tell Us About Yourself

I was born and raised in New York and graduated from Towson University in Maryland. I began teaching in New York City before returning to school to earn a degree in educational leadership. I was honored to present on several academic and leadership topics at local conferences throughout my career. I  have also served as an assistant principal in Merrimack, NH, and Coppell, Texas. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2021 as campus director at the Foundation School for Autism – Plano.

What inspired you to become a campus leader?

I have wanted to be in education since I was a little girl, but a former college professor encouraged me to pursue a career in teaching. My first teaching experience involved working with students with special needs and ultimately inspired me to go into special education and advocate for a vulnerable population of students who could not do it on their own.

What are some things that your students have taught you?

My students have taught me that patience and kindness always yield positive results. I love coming to campus and working with our students to overcome the challenges they face in the classroom. Witnessing their accomplishments and seeing their confidence grow is incredible!

What are you most proud of about your time with Foundation School for Autism – Plano?

I am most proud of my team, who have created a positive and inviting school environment that makes learning fun for all students. I am also proud of the lifelong relationships our team has developed with our families.

What do you like most about being a part of your campus?

I love leading and mentoring special educators, providing them with the tools and support they need to provide hope for families. It is truly an honor to provide educational services to families and help their students reach their full potential.
