This week, we sat down with Robert Burke, who teaches history, economics, government, and various P-TECH programs at Lewisville School of Science and Technology.

Tell us about yourself:
I am originally from Michigan but have had the opportunity to live in several places, including Tennessee, North Carolina, and London, before settling down in Texas. I have two daughters and have been married for 45 years. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2013 and teach several subjects, including history, computer science, and economics, at the Lewisville School of Science & Technology.
What inspired you to become an educator?
I became a teacher because I have always enjoyed learning, and I wanted to share that passion with others. More importantly, I wanted to make a positive impact on students’ lives through encouragement and positive reinforcement.
What are some things that your students have taught you?
They have taught me that intelligence comes in many forms and helped me become more mindful and empathetic toward others’ emotions and feelings.
What are you most proud of about your time with Lewisville School of Science & Technology?
I’m most proud of being part of an incredible team of educators and administrators. Together, we have been able to navigate challenges, always staying focused on what matters most—our students.
What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?
I enjoy the flexibility I have as an educator here and am grateful for the chance to engage with such a diverse group of students. Every person treats each other with respect and works together to achieve a common goal.
