At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.

This week, we sat down with Emily Abella, who teaches Mathematics at iSchool High – Atascocita.

Tell Us About Yourself

I am originally from Orlando, FL, and graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Mathematics Education. I am in my tenth year of teaching and third year with ResponsiveEd, where I teach Mathematics at iSchool High – Atascocita.ย

What inspired you to become an educator?

I have always enjoyed working with students and finding new and creative ways to make math fun and help them understand challenging concepts. It is so rewarding to watch that light bulb go off when they overcome something they have been struggling with and become more confident as the school year progresses.

What are some things that your students have taught you?

My students have taught me that everyone is capable of achieving success and surpassing their goals if they work hard and have a strong support system.

What are you most proud of about your time with iSchool High – Atascocita?

I am most proud of the seniors who have walked across the stage and earned their diplomas and know how hard we worked together to get them to that point.

What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?

My favorite thing about ResponsiveEd is how personalized the experience is for each student. I am grateful that I get to build long-lasting relationships with my students and colleagues because of the smaller school environment and close-knit campus culture.
