At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.
This week, we sat down with Julie Hanson, who teaches Mathematics at iSchool High – Atascocita.
Tell Us About Yourself
After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin, I began working with middle and high school students in the greater Houston area. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2023 and teach Mathematics at iSchool High – Atascocita.
What inspired you to become an educator?
I credit my high school AP US History teacher with inspiring me to become a teacher. The way she always supported and cheered on her students made an incredible impact on me and encouraged me to want to do the same for my students.ย
What are some things that your students have taught you?
My students often remind me how important it is to keep learning and asking questions. Their curiosity about the world inspires me to look at things from a new perspective and approach new situations with a positive attitude.
What are you most proud of about your time with iSchool High – Atascocita?
I am most proud of the hard work and dedication my students have demonstrated to accomplish their personal and academic goals.
What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?
My favorite thing about my campus is the people I work with and the strong sense of community. Everyone, from fellow teachers to leadership, is committed to creating a safe and positive learning environment.ย ย
