Tell Us About Yourself
Originally from California, I was stationed at Brooks AFB in San Antonio while in the Air Force. After serving during Operation Desert Storm, I returned to East Texas and graduated from the University of Texas – Tyler. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2000 and teach Special Education at Premier High School – Tyler.ย
What inspired you to become an educator?
Like many students, I often struggled with my confidence in the classroom. My lack of self-confidence made challenges even more difficult to overcome, but with hard work and the support of my teachers and family, I was able to achieve many of my academic goals. I knew early on that I wanted to share that feeling of accomplishment with others.
What are some things that your students have taught you?
My students have taught me several important lessons, like patience, empathy, and perseverance. Each student experiences unique challenges, yet they continue to work hard, show unwavering dedication to achieve their goals, and accept every person for where they are.ย
What are you most proud of about your time with Premier High School – Tyler?
I am most proud of my students who have graduated. Despite any obstacles they faced throughout the year, they did not give up and continued to have a positive attitude and work hard to achieve their goals.ย
What do you like most about working for ResponsiveEd?
What I enjoy most is getting to know every student on a deeper level, and seeing them succeed in all aspects of their lives is the best part of my job.
