Premier High School – Mesquite Teacher Brittainey Raven

At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.

This week, we sat down with Brittainey Raven, who teaches English at Premier High School – Mesquite.

Tell Us About Yourself

I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, and am a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. During college, I was a member of the University of Texas women’s basketball team before being drafted to play in the WNBA and later traveling the world to play in Europe.

What inspired you to become an educator?

Many of my teachers and coaches left a lasting impact on me growing up. Following my basketball career, I knew I wanted to return home to teach and coach and provide the same kind of support for students I received.

What are some things that your students have taught you?

My students have taught me the importance of living in the moment and seeing the good in every day. They remind me that my perspective on each day matters because it impacts their mindset in the classroom.

What are you most proud of about your time with Premier High School – Mesquite.

I am most proud of the growth that our campus has experienced since opening earlier this year. The daily support we receive from our administration and families has been incredible.

What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?

Working for ResponsiveEd has allowed me to meet and collaborate with similar goal-oriented educators to improve our classrooms. Additionally, the leadership has done a great job providing extra resources and having meaningful conversations and feedback that ensure each teacher’s success.
