At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.
This week, we sat down with Bianca Lockett, who teaches reading, English, language arts, and social studies at Ignite Community School – Humble.
Tell Us About Yourself
I was born and raised in Houston and am a graduate of the University of Houston-Downtown. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2022 and teach reading, language arts, and social studies at Ignite Community School – Humble.
What inspired you to become an educator?
I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. Like many people, I have always gained inspiration from my teachers. Their example led me to be that person my students turn to for support and encouragement.
What are some things that your students have taught you?
My students have taught me the importance of perseverance and self-love. It is easy to get frustrated when we don’t understand a concept or learn a new skill right away, but my students remind me not to give up and to believe in myself.
What are you most proud of about your time with Ignite Community School – Humble?
I am most proud of how hard all my students work and because of their hard work they perform well on their daily assignments and on assessments. They are able to make connections to the real world and will grow to be productive citizens.
What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?
I enjoy the leadership and guidance that the administration team provides. I love working alongside dedicated educators who work together to help each other grow and provide the best education for our students.
