FORT WORTH, Texas — October 21, 2025 — TexasWorks, a tuition-free diploma and career certification program for adult learners, celebrated its official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, October 21, at its Fort Worth (Southside) location, 319 Lipscomb Street. The event brought together local leaders, community partners, students, and staff to commemorate the success and ongoing growth of TexasWorks across its three Fort Worth campus locations.
The ceremony began with opening remarks and introductions from Fort Worth (Southside) Campus Director Dr. Barry Baker, who welcomed honored guests, including Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare, Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock, representatives from the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, and President & CEO of the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Ericka Garza.
TexasWorks Regional Director Jason Caldwell and Brand Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Camarena delivered remarks highlighting the program’s expanding presence in Fort Worth and its mission to empower adults through education and workforce training.
“This initiative is also about strengthening the heartbeat of the Fort Worth community,” said Dr. Camarena. “Every graduate of TexasWorks is not only improving their own life but also contributing to the vitality of Fort Worth’s workforce and economy. When adults succeed, families succeed. When families succeed, communities grow stronger. And when communities grow stronger, everyone benefits.”
Students Jamya David, Martin Gomez, Carlos Rubio, Kasey Gaspar, Diamond Chapa, and Cartesa Johnson shared personal stories of perseverance and success, offering a glimpse into the real-world impact of the TexasWorks program.
Regional Director Jason Caldwell emphasized the program’s community focus, adding, “Our three Fort Worth campuses are more than schools, they’re places of renewal and
growth. Each student’s story reminds us why we do this work, and today’s celebration is a testament to what’s possible when education and opportunity meet.”
The event concluded with remarks from the honored guests, followed by a ceremonial ribbon-cutting led by Dr. Baker, TexasWorks administration, and community leaders. Guests were invited to tour the campus and connect with staff following the ceremony.
