At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.

This week, we sat down with Tyler Workman, who teaches chemistry and physics at Lewisville School of Science & Technology.

Tell Us About Yourself

My time with ResponsiveEd began when I attended Founders Classical Academy – Corinth, formerly Vista Academy of Corinth, and graduated from Lewisville School of Science & Technology, formerly iSchool STEM Academy of Lewisville. I earned a bachelor’s in natural sciences from Dallas Baptist University and a master’s in physics from the University of Texas at Arlington. I returned to ResponsiveEd, where I now teach chemistry and physics at Lewisville School of Science & Technology.

What inspired you to become an educator?

One of my former teachers shared he initially had doubts about becoming an educator. However, once he stepped into the classroom, he discovered a true passion for teaching and knew it was the right path.

His journey resonated with me, and he ultimately inspired me to explore a career in education. Wanting to make a difference, I volunteered as a tutor with our middle school’s 504 program. The experience was incredibly rewarding, and, like my teacher, I found a deep passion for helping students thrive.

What are some things that your students have taught you?

I have learned that the best way for a student to learn something new is to have a personal connection to it. As I interact with my students, we can find the pieces of a lesson that speak to them and use them to build a foundation that stays with them outside the classroom.

What are you most proud of about your time with Lewisville School of Science & Technology?

I am most proud of the deep connections I have made with the staff and students throughout my time as a student and educator. Over the years, I have developed great friendships and working relationships, and I cherish getting to continue forming and strengthening them.

What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?

Our campus culture and small class sizes have allowed me to build strong connections with my coworkers and students. Teaching at ResponsiveEd has allowed me to deepen relationships with students, colleagues, and administrators, fostering a collaborative environment that enhances the educational experience for everyone involved.
