At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.

This week, we sat down with Rachel Difurio, who teaches second grade at Founders Classical Academy – Flower Mound.

Tell Us About Yourself

I grew up in Columbia, Maryland, and received my degree in educational studies from The University of Delaware. After moving to North Texas in 2006, I had the opportunity to serve in various school roles. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2011 and teach second grade at Founders Classical Academy – Flower Mound.

What inspired you to become an educator?

I have been passionate about learning for as long as I can remember. Every job I have had has been in education, and each role I have held has continued to ignite my love for learning. However, one of my former supervisors, Dr. Goddard was the one who encouraged me to pursue teaching full-time.

What are some things that your students have taught you?

Every day, my students encourage me to be the best version of myself. Whenever I have the opportunity to help them overcome their challenges in the classroom, it reminds me that nothing is impossible and inspires me to challenge myself.

What are you most proud of about your time with Founders Classical Academy – Flower Mound?

I am proud to contribute to ResponsiveEd’s mission of providing hope, and I am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our future generations through a classical education.

What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?

The thing I enjoy most about my campus is the sense of community. Every teacher and staff member is driven and committed to helping all students succeed.
