Founders Classical Academy – Bastrop’s Kapricia Davis

At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.

This week, we sat down with Kapricia Davis, who teaches first grade at Founders Classical Academy – Bastrop.

Tell Us About Yourself

I am originally from Austin, Texas, and earned my bachelor’s degree in education with a minor in kinesiology from Concordia University of Austin. I have always had a passion for education and have held several teaching positions since graduating. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2018 and teach first grade at Founders Classical Academy – Bastrop.

What inspired you to become an educator?

My inspiration to become an educator comes from my passion for helping young children who will one day shape our future. I love making learning fun and strive to be the same kind of inspiration I once had as a child.

What are some things that your students have taught you?

My students have helped me see the world from new perspectives and reminded me daily of the importance of patience, empathy, and emotional intelligence. They’ve also helped me strengthen my communication skills and shown me how important it is to create a safe, encouraging environment where every student feels comfortable taking risks and sharing ideas.

What are you most proud of about your time with Founders Classical Academy – Bastrop?

I am most proud of the relationships I have built with my students and their families over the years. There’s no better feeling than seeing former students come back to visit and share how much our time together meant to them. Knowing I’ve made a lasting impact on their lives is truly rewarding.

What do you like most about being an educator at your campus?

What I love most about teaching at my campus is the curriculum we offer. Many of the things I teach now are lessons I didn’t learn until much later in life, so it’s exciting to share this knowledge with my students and help prepare them for a successful future.
