Tell Us About Yourself
Originally from Hawaii, I later moved to Dallas for college. After completing my degree, I spent five years working in special education before relocating to Houston, where I became a stay-at-home mom and homeschooled my two daughters. I loved my time at home with them, but when my youngest daughter entered high school, I knew it was time to return to teaching and continue doing what I love—supporting and inspiring students. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2022 and teach special education courses at iSchool High – The Woodlands.
What inspired you to become an educator?
I had worked in several roles throughout my career, but none truly fulfilled me. That changed when I joined a company called NurseFinders, where I worked closely with children with special needs. Shortly after starting as a skills trainer, I realized I had found my passion. I knew I wanted to pursue a career that would allow me to continue working with children, and I decided to pursue teaching. Inspiring kids in creative ways and watching them succeed brings me a deep sense of joy and purpose.
What are some things that your students have taught you?
My students have taught me the importance of never judging a book by its cover. Each person has a story. All it takes is one person who believes in them to make a difference.
What are you most proud of about your time with iSchool High – The Woodlands?
I am most proud of my students’ success. Working closely with them to overcome their challenges while helping them grow into hardworking and confident individuals has been the highlight of my career.
