At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.
This week, we sat down with Courtney Blackburn, who teaches art and music at Coppell Classical Academy.
Tell Us About Yourself
I was born and raised in Granbury, Texas, and earned my degree in visual art studies and art education. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2003 and teach art and music at Coppell Classical Academy.
What inspired you to become an educator?
I have always loved art and wanted to find a career that would allow me to share that passion with others. I love teaching people of all ages and seeing their creativity come to life. It has been a true joy to hear students tell me they want to pursue a career as a teacher or an artist.
What are some things that your students have taught you?
My students have taught me patience is the key to learning and teaching. Because of them, I continue to improve as a teacher and help them succeed in and out of the classroom.
What are you most proud of about your time with Coppell Classical Academy?
I am most proud of the classroom culture and lessons I have developed for my students. It is a great feeling to see them get excited about creating a piece of art that reflects what they are learning in their other classes.
What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?
I love that ResponsiveEd offers smaller class sizes, which allows students to receive a more personalized and hands-on education. Additionally, I am grateful to be a part of a school that promotes high moral standards because it sets us all up to be life-long learners.
