Tell Us About Yourself
I’m originally from Holliday, Texas, a small town outside Wichita Falls, and earned my Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Midwestern State University. While in college, I began assisting with a high school color guard program, which gave me several years of hands-on teaching experience before graduation.
My first classroom role was in Bastrop, Texas, where I taught fifth and sixth-grade music. After some time away, I was drawn to Founders Classical Academy and its curriculum. I especially enjoy fostering curiosity in our youngest learners and watching them grow in independence and confidence. I joined ResponsiveEd in 2024 and teach Kindergarten at Founders Classical Academy – Bastrop.
What inspired you to become an educator?
I became a teacher because I am passionate about sharing knowledge and helping students unlock their potential. My background in music revealed how transformative it is when a student develops genuine confidence, and I wanted to witness that daily. Teaching allows me to spark curiosity, nurture growth, and celebrate those moments when students realize they can achieve more than they thought possible.
What are some things that your students have taught you?
My students have taught me patience, flexibility, and the joy of celebrating small victories. Every day, my students remind me to see the world with fresh eyes and to find wonder in small things. They’ve shown me that growth isn’t always linear, and that joy, kindness, and rigor can go hand-in-hand.
What are you most proud of about your time with Founders Classical Academy – Bastrop?
I am most proud that my students—and their parents—truly enjoy coming to my class. I work hard to create an environment filled with joy and excitement for learning. Whether it’s through songs, dance, or even pulling out my ukulele to sing together, I love making the classroom a place where students feel both happy and eager to grow. Seeing their smiles and hearing parents share how much their children look forward to school each day is one of my greatest accomplishments.
What do you like most about being an educator at your campus?
What I love most about working for ResponsiveEd is its focus on classical education. By focusing on truth, goodness, and beauty, this model not only challenges students academically but also nurtures their character. It is deeply rewarding to be part of a school that equips students to think well and to live well.
