At ResponsiveEd, we are focused not only on the success of our students but on the achievements and growth of our talented educators leading the way. As we assemble the best collection of talent around to inspire and provide hope for students, we are honored to spotlight those already making a difference in the lives of our students across the district.

This week, we sat down with Abigail Quintana, who teaches Mathematics at El Paso Classical Academy.

Tell Us About Yourself

I was born in a small town near Houston, Texas, and raised in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. I received my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas at El Paso. I joined ResponsiveEd in August 2020 and teach middle and high school Math at El Paso Classical Academy.

What inspired you to become an educator?

Like many of my students, I was once an emergent bilingual student. Throughout my time in school, I often struggled and faced challenges. Yet, despite all of this, my teachers continued to cheer me on and support me. Their encouragement inspired me to become an educator, and because of their example, I strive to show the same support to my students.

What are some things that your students have taught you?

My students have taught me the importance of determination and perseverance. Their dedication to confront and overcome challenges in the classroom inspires me to do the same in my life.

What are you most proud of about your time with El Paso Classical Academy?

I am most proud of the relationships that I have established with my colleagues. They have helped me become a better teacher, and it is so rewarding to work alongside them and make a difference in the lives of our students.

What do you like most about being an educator for your campus?

My favorite thing about working at El Paso Classical Academy is the strong sense of community. Everyone, from fellow teachers to leadership, is committed to creating a safe and positive learning environment.
