At Premier High School and TexasWorks campuses in Corpus Christi and Texarkana, students are taking to the skies through the campuses’ Career and Technical Education (CTE) Drone Pilot Program. This hands-on program allows students to earn their high school diploma while gaining in-demand skills for today’s competitive workforce.

Through this career-focused training, students prepare to earn their  FAA Part 107 drone license and develop real-world experience in flight operations, aerial technology, and industry-specific drone applications. Whether students wish to work in media, agriculture, construction, or public safety, being certified in drone technology opens the door to in-demand and high-paying careers.

“Programs like this don’t just teach technical skills, they give our students a sense of direction and purpose,” said Premier High School – Texarkana Campus Director Bria McCartney. “Our students are graduating with credentials that open doors and give them real options after high school.”

Upon completing the program, students receive their official FAA drone pilot license, allowing them to legally operate unmanned aerial systems (drones) for commercial purposes, creating income opportunities even before graduation.

“At Premier High School – Corpus Christi, we’re proud to offer the same programs and opportunities to our TexasWorks students that prepare them for the future,” added Campus Director Christopher Vasquez. “They’re gaining valuable career skills while earning their diploma, and that’s what makes these programs so impactful.”

Through innovative programs like these, Premier High Schools and TexasWorks are empowering students and adult learners with the tools, training, and confidence to thrive in high-demand careers.

Both campuses invite Premier families, TexasWorks students, and the community to attend their  upcoming Open Houses. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the facility, meet the faculty, and learn more about the school’s mission and educational offerings.
