Like many students nationwide, Dallas-Fort Worth area-based Premier High School alum Tony Lu faced academic challenges in a traditional high school setting as a non-native English speaker. Seeking an environment that would match his motivation to learn at a faster pace, Tony decided to make a change and enroll at his local Premier High School.
Serving grades 9–12, Premier High School offers a flexible schedule and a mastery-based curriculum that combines personalized instruction with career readiness, skill-building, and personal development. Throughout his time at Premier, Tony was able to learn at his own pace, build confidence, and turn obstacles into strengths.
“Enrolling at Premier High School allowed me to take charge of my education,” Lu shared. “I learned how to manage my time, stay disciplined, and work independently while working toward my goals.”

After graduating in 2022, he began working full-time while pursuing a college degree. The skills he developed at Premier quickly proved invaluable, and during his first year of college, he was named Student of the Year.
“Tony has always approached his goals with focus and determination,” said Dual Credit Coordinator Mackenzie Wilson. “Supporting him through his college applications and FAFSA each year has been a privilege, and seeing him recognized as Student of the Year is a testament to his hard work and perseverance.”
At Premier, support doesn’t end at graduation. The school continues to work alongside alumni, helping them complete financial aid, submit college applications, and prepare for the opportunities ahead.
Tony is currently pursuing a Business Administration degree at Dallas College and plans to continue his education at The University of Texas at Dallas this spring pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Real Estate Finance.
“Premier didn’t just prepare me for college, it prepared me for life,” Tony said. “To any student facing challenges: success is discipline, consistency, and mindset. Keep going, even when it’s hard.”
