Earlier this year, the Rotary Club of The Woodlands hosted its prestigious Students of the Year Awards Luncheon at The Woodlands Country Club, marking twenty years of recognizing outstanding achievements by local high school students.

ResponsiveEd is thrilled to share that iSchool High – The Woodlands students Deyla Carrizales and Evan Gault were this year’s recipients of a $1,000 scholarship by The Woodlands Rotary Club. These prestigious scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who not only excel academically but actively contribute to their communities.

Having previously served as campus rotary club president, Deyla Carrizales has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service and school involvement. Throughout her time at iSchool, she received her associate’s degree in applied science from campus dual-credit partner Lone Star College Honors College. This fall, she plans to attend the University of Houston and major in psychology to become a child psychologist.

Evan Gault, another standout student, has also shown excellence in academics and athletics. Graduating in the top five of his class, he has been an active member of the track and field team and is a member of the Rowing Club of The Woodlands. Additionally, Evan showcased his skills on the basketball court as a starting guard for the Lone Star College basketball team. Evan plans to attend Texas A&M University to study mechanical engineering.

“Deyla and Evan’s accomplishments are a tremendous source of pride for our campus,” said teacher and rotary club sponsor Michael Colon. “It has been an honor to watch them develop into hard-working individuals passionate about giving back to their community.”

Congratulations to both recipients! We look forward to seeing all they achieve in the coming year and wish them the best in their future endeavors.
