A unique aspect of several of our Premier High Schools, grades 9-12, and TexasWorks, for students ages 18-50, is their Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways, skills, and certifications for high-demand careers.

This CTE Month, we’re proud to highlight Premier High School and TexasWorks – Fort Worth (Jacksboro), whose CTE offering in Graphic Design is preparing students to turn creativity into a career.

The Graphic Design program focuses on occupational and educational opportunities connected to designing packaging, displays, and logos that meet real commercial and promotional needs. Throughout the program, students learn core design principles while also building foundational career skills, including customer service, graphic design theory, graphic production, and large-format printing, ensuring students understand both the creative and business sides of the industry.

Through hands-on learning, participants gain experience using industry tools and technology that mirror what professionals use every day. From digital design platforms like Photoshop to production-based projects, students build portfolios that demonstrate their technical ability and creative vision.

For students like Kasey Gaspar, the program is already unlocking valuable opportunities. She recently completed an internship with Big Frog Custom T-Shirts and More, gaining valuable real-world experience and insight into the day-to-day operations of the design and printing industry. “I enjoy learning about everything related to graphic design,” said Gaspar. “This program has allowed me to embrace my creativity and opened doors for me to get an internship, build confidence, and strengthen my skills before pursuing a career.”

Through CTE programs like this, Premier High School and TexasWorks campuses continue to equip students with opportunities to gain real-world experience through paid and unpaid internships, earn industry-recognized certifications, and take the first steps toward meaningful careers after high school.

Why Career and Technical Education (CTE)? Students can begin training for a career while earning their diploma. CTE provides students with the skills and training to further their education and pursue meaningful careers in high-demand professions.
