A unique aspect of Premier High School is our Career and Technical Education (CTE) options. Through these options, students receive job training, have opportunities to participate in paid or unpaid internships, receive industry-recognized certifications, and begin meaningful careers after high school. In honor of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, we talked to our Premier High School – Midland, Longview, and Huntsville about their CTE offering in drone piloting.
In the campus drone programs, students work toward earning a commercial drone pilot license and learn how to utilize this license for a meaningful career. Upon completion, program participants are issued their drone pilot license by the Federal Aviation Administration, allowing them to earn money operating an unmanned aerial system (drone).
“As someone who has always had an interest in aviation, this program has been an amazing opportunity to learn about drones and aviation principles while paving the way for a successful career in the drone industry,” said Premier High School – Midland student Julian Flores.
Why Career and Technical Education (CTE)? Students can begin training for a career while earning their diploma. CTE gives students the skills and training to further their education and pursue meaningful careers in high-demand professions.
